Lealman’s redevelopment advisory committee is scheduled to return Wednesday, October 28, at 6 p.m. at the Lealman Exchange, following the cancellation of its September 23 meeting.
The county’s meeting calendar lists the location as 5175 45th St. N. Residents and business owners can attend in person.
The timing matters. The county has adopted its fiscal 2027 work plan for the Lealman Community Redevelopment Area, or CRA. That plan sets out the neighborhood’s redevelopment projects and programs. For people living here, the question is how those commitments turn into completed work.
The adopted work plan and county-reported performance measures give residents a place to start. What has been funded? What has actually been finished? Who is responsible when a project slips?
Home and business improvement grants are another part of that picture. The county’s Residential Improvement Grant Program offers eligible owners up to $15,000 for qualifying exterior and site improvements, with the owner’s required contribution tied to income. The county also offers commercial improvement grants. Residents can ask how those programs are reaching the properties that need help and what results the spending has produced.
Those are issues worth following, but they are not a confirmed October agenda. As of October 9, the county pages reviewed for this story did not provide an October 28 agenda identifying which projects or grants would be discussed.
The advisory committee makes recommendations. County commissioners, sitting as the redevelopment agency, make the agency’s decisions. An advisory vote does not by itself approve spending, and the meeting listing does not establish that recommendations will receive final action in November.
Check the county’s meeting page and agenda before heading over. Bring a specific project, street or question you want addressed. An adopted plan tells residents what the county intends to do. The follow-through is what counts.
